Medrano Bashes 5 Base Hits
Saturday, April 15th , 2051
After a 5-hit effort to lead Vancouver HS's 14-5 victory over the St. Louis HS White Sox, third baseman Lanny Medrano told BNN beat writers it had been "a special day."

"It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "Three or four is better, but five or more is out of sight. And to do that at the High School Stars League-level is really something special."

The 14-year-old player earned his accolades today at U.S. Cellular Field with a spectacular 5-for-5 game against the White Sox.

"His swing is getting there," said Alpines skipper Tony O'Bryan, who spoke glowingly of Medrano after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Lanny did that to perfection today."

Lanny Medrano hit a two-run home run off Mike Johnson in the 2nd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 5th, doubled in the 7th and singled in the 8th.

Looking at his stats this year, Medrano has compiled a .455 batting average, while hitting 2 home runs and driving in 5 runs. He has played in 9 games and scored 5 runs.
