Cunningham Bashes 5 Base Hits Wednesday, April 13th, 2039 Even as a kid, Don Cunningham said his coaches told him the key to hitting was making contact, and letting everything else flow from there. At Ballpark of Spring Valley HS today, Cunningham showed how well he learned that lesson. The 17-year-old left fielder had 5 hits in 5 at-bats for the Bishop Gorman HS Crusaders, helping his team knock off the Spring Valley HS Bombers by a score of 7-6. "They always said, just keep your eye on the ball, don't overswing, make contact and you never know what will happen," he said. "That's all I did today." Don Cunningham hit a two-run home run off Wes Miller in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit a two-run home run off Wes Miller in the 7th, singled in the 9th, walked in the 11th and walked in the 13th.
