Tigres End Kline Streak
Tuesday, June 16th , 2054
The 20-game hitting streak of Columbia Mavericks first baseman Sandy Kline came to an end at Ballpark of Matane. The San Juan Tigres held him hitless in 1 at-bat and also sent the Mavericks down to defeat, 7-1.
Later, Kline acknowledged to BNN reporters that the hit streak meant something to him.
"It was special," he said, "but I think other people make a bigger deal out of it than I do, or the players do. It was what we're all supposed to do; go out and hit the ball and try to score runs. It was a cool deal, but it's over now. Let's try to start a new one."
This year, Kline has hit at a .390 pace and produced 57 RBIs, 15 home runs and scored 61 runs.
