Smashing Success: Messner Wallops 3 HR Friday, July 21st , 2051 Richard Messner brutalized the Roy Eagle Squadron pitching staff, launching three home runs in today's 16-7 victory at Marshall Space Flight Field. The Alabama Shakes catcher was red-hot, the ball just exploding off his bat all day. "I don't try to hit homers," he said later. "I try to go out there and put a good swing on the ball, and sometimes it is going to go out of the park. I didn't try to hit the first one or the second one or the third one." For the game, he went 3-for-3 with 5 RBIs and 4 runs scored. "Too much Richard Messner today," Eagle Squadron manager Miguel Ramírez said. "That's my assessment of the game. That's what our problems boiled down to." Richard Messner hit a solo-shot off Miguel Suárez in the 1st, walked in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Carlos Scott in the 5th, walked in the 6th and hit a two-run home run off Leslie Foster in the 7th. Currently Messner is batting .195 with 69 hits and 17 home runs. He has knocked in 60 runs and scored 52 times. |
