Walter Goes Cycling
Tuesday, July 6th , 2055
At Santa Clarita Grounds, Stanley Walter led El Paso to a win, 15-13, over the Columbia Mavericks by hitting for the cycle, one of baseball's more difficult feats.
"Usually the triple is the hardest one to get, but I was most worried about the homer today because the ball wasn't carrying," Walter said later. "When I took it deep, I was expecting the ball to die on the warning track, so it was sweet seeing the ump give me the signal to circle the bases."
In addition to going 4-for-5, Walter chalked up 6 RBI and scored 1 run in an exceptional performance.
Stanley Walter hit an RBI double in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, grounded out in the 4th, tripled in the 6th, reached via catchers interference in the 8th and hit a GRAND SLAM off Fernando MorĂ¡n in the 9th.
This year, Walter has socked 67 hits in 224 at-bats for a .299 average with 11 home runs. He is getting on base at a .381 pace and his totals also include 51 RBIs and 49 runs scored.
