Pereira Socks It to Bulls, Cracks 5 Hits
Saturday, July 25th , 2054
All game long, Watertown's José Pereira was rattling the walls at Ballpark of Ontario and banging out base hits against the Birmingham Bulls. When the dust finally settled on the diamond, he had a 5-hit day and the Headhunters had a win, 13-10.
Speaking with reporters after his standout performance, the 20-year-old first baseman said, "Get 5 hits, win a ballgame, it's nice. I could get used to this."
José Pereira singled in the 2nd, walked in the 4th, doubled in the 6th, hit a solo-shot off Miguel Moreno in the 8th, hit a three-run home run off Jesús González in the 9th and hit an RBI single in the 10th.
In this current campaign Pereira is hitting at a .213 clip with 17 home runs and 53 RBIs.
