Consecutive-Game Hit Streak Continues for Hewitt Thursday, July 27th , 2056 And the streak goes on. John Hewitt collected yet another hit in the 17-7 Quincy Doughboys win over the Mavericks at Santa Clarita Grounds. The Quincy second baseman finished 3-for-6 in the game. During an extended batting practice session before the game, the famously hard-working Hewitt had fielded questions from reporters about his hitting streak, which now sits at 20 games. "I'm not doing too much special," he said. "I'm well-prepared and I'm just trying to get the bat on the ball and put it in play." John Hewitt singled in the 1st, hit a two-run single in the 2nd, grounded out in the 4th, singled in the 6th, struck out in the 7th and flied out in the 9th. In his season totals Hewitt has 11 home runs and a .479 batting average. |
