Land Hits for the Cycle
Wednesday, August 18th , 2055
Jeremy Land of the Fort Collins Commoners touched all the bases at The Cove in his team's 14-10 victory over Castle Rock, hitting for the cycle.

He teed off on Captains pitching, collecting 1 single, 1 double, 1 triple and 1 home run. The feat is rare in baseball as it requires a game of no fewer than four hits and the unusual combination of a home run, which requires a batter to hit for some power -- and a triple, which requires a batter to have both speed and a favorable fall of the ball.

"The hardest part was the triple," Land confessed after the game. "A lot has to go right. It's real easy to get greedy trying to stretch a double and get thrown out. It's really hard to get a three-bagger."

He finished the big day with 4 hits in 5 at-bats, 1 run batted in, 3 runs scored -- and a place in the record books.

Jeremy Land flied out in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Robin Martin in the 3rd, walked in the 5th, doubled in the 6th, tripled in the 8th and singled in the 10th.

This year, Land is hitting .407, produced 119 RBIs and 43 home runs, scored 90 times and gotten on base at a .517 rate.
