Alabama catcher Jim Atkinson thrice sent eager fans scurrying to catch a souvenir, helping lead the Alabama to a win, 6-5, over Hartford. "Hey, the three homers were great, but I'm just trying to help my ballclub," Atkinson said later. "I'm not going out there thinking I need another home run." Atkinson was 4-for-4 on the day with 4 RBI. Jim Atkinson singled in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Héctor Moreno in the 4th, hit a two-run home run off Héctor Moreno in the 5th and hit a solo-shot off Ángel Mora in the 8th. Atkinson is batting at a .407 pace this season, picking up 77 hits in 189 at-bats with 32 home runs, 84 RBIs and 68 runs scored. |
