Wilson Launches 3 HR for Overlords Friday, June 23rd , 2051 His swing was a thing of beauty. Three times Bert Wilson swung the bat and three times he delivered a home run. It was an awesome sight to behold at Overlords Ballpark, but to no avail, for as good as he was, the Brunswick Squares were better. The Palmyra Overlords couldn't capitalize on the big game from Wilson and dropped the contest 15-11. The mood in the Overlords clubhouse afterward was subdued, with several players remarking that they had allowed the Squares to spoil the day for Wilson. "Some of the boys are beating themselves up about it," Palmyra manager José Santana said. "They know we win as a team and lose as a team, but it's hard to really put that idea into practice on a day when one of you was playing on such an obviously higher level." In addition to the homers, Wilson collected 3 RBIs and scored 4 runs. "I got three pitches down the pipe and popped them," the Palmyra right fielder told reporters. "Today I was in a groove. Tomorrow I could just pop the same pitches up and go 0-for-3." Bert Wilson grounded out in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Paul Russell in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Paul Russell in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Jack Marsh in the 6th, singled in the 7th and struck out in the 9th. Wilson is batting .298 with 19 home runs and 50 RBIs this season. |
